The Morgabim eruption begun in October 12th 2000 at 5:05 am. Situated at some feet above the Pârvédi, some hours later we were on the site ... After more than 3 weeks erupting, the significant decrease of the lava activity anounced the end of the eruption and the Morgabim crater got closed.
November the 8th, the unexpected occured. Another crater named Sniper was born, just above the Morgabim.

FLASH ANIMATIONS

The day after, The Morgabim explosed, showing a great lava lake and throwing away volcanic bombs under the gas pressure. A torrent of lava flowed down Piton de la Fournaise. November the 13th 2000 at 8:10 pm , the eruption ended brutally.

There are only a few effusive active volcanoes in the world . In fact, these volcanoes, called "red volcanoes" present a cinematographic interest, because their eruptions are generally followed by very spectacular great fluid lava flows .
The Piton de la Fournaise of La Réunion is a "red volcano" like the volcanoes of Hawaii . It erupts almost every year.
